The specious debates underway in the United States today over the much publicized visit by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, are mere window dressing for a deep and abiding evil that has existed for millennia. The last time this evil was so evident, it ultimately led to the deaths of an estimated eleven million people. This time may be even worse. Continue reading “Somebody’s Going to Die”
The Smell of Burnt Flesh
What does Old Testament animal sacrifice have to do with us today? Did God really demand it? Why?
In today’s high-tech culture and high-tech churches, the world of our spiritual ancestors often appears barbaric and uninformed. If we are not careful it is easy to judge them through the lens of our modern world-view. When we do, we completely miss the significance of their worship. Continue reading “The Smell of Burnt Flesh”
The Most Important Tool in Every Christian’s Toolbox

Do You Need Favor?
Wouldn’t you love to meet someone who has the power and influence to radically change your life for the better? Have you ever hoped to be discovered and move toward the life of your dreams? The Bible lays out some principles you need to follow before that is likely to happen.
One of the most noted men in the Bible, and indeed in history, left his homeland and headed to a place he had never been. Although things weren’t always easy, he worked hard and trusted God. Eventually Abraham was wealthy, and was given children – in his old age – who could enjoy the fruit of his labor. His son Isaac was designated to carry the family name and the greatest blessings of God, but there was a problem. Continue reading “Do You Need Favor?”
Will They Care You Died?
His name meant, “God is exalted”, but he failed to live up to that great calling. His Grandfather and Father – though not without their faults – were considered by God to be faithful and righteous. They had been blessed. Yet, despite the destiny implied by his name, Jehoram, King of Judah, went down in history as one of the worst Kings to ever live.
Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years. No one was sorry when he died. They buried him in the City of David, but not in the royal cemetery. (2 Chronicles 21:20 NLT) Continue reading “Will They Care You Died?”
Is Life Really Unfair?
Have you ever experienced a time when you were praying, seeking God, doing good deeds, going to church and more, yet you were struggling to get by? Have you ever been frustrated when someone seems to be living the good life despite godless actions and mistreatment of others? Have you ever heard yourself pray, “It’s not fair God?”
If the truth is known, many of us have probably been there at some point in life. We work and struggle to obey God only to watch others – who don’t give God a second thought – pass us by in the race of life. It can be a real challenge to remain humble and trust God when we feel overlooked. Continue reading “Is Life Really Unfair?”
What’s your FQ?
“As he walked along, he saw Levi son of Alphaeus sitting at his tax collector’s booth. ‘Follow me and be my disciple,’ Jesus said to him. So Levi got up and followed him.” – Mark 2:14 (NLT)
MESSAGE:
We have a quotient for nearly everything. We have IQ (Intelligence Quotient); EQ (Emotional Quotient); LQ (Love Quotient) and manifold others. While it is good to gauge intelligence, emotional awareness and other areas of our life, I believe God is more concerned about our FQ (Following Quotient). Continue reading “What’s your FQ?”
The Power of a Simple Prayer
“In that day the wolf and the lamb will live together; the leopard will lie down with the baby goat. The calf and the yearling will be safe with the lion, and a little child will lead them all. – Isaiah 11:6 (NLT)
MESSAGE:
It started as what was seen by many – including many Government officials – as outright rebellion. The culprits were children whose ages ranged from about four to fourteen years old. The year was 1707. The misdeeds were carried out in a region along the Polish and Czechoslovakian borders known as Silesia. Continue reading “The Power of a Simple Prayer”
Debilitating Demons that Detour Your Destiny – Part 7
“’Why is the LORD taking us to this country only to have us die in battle? Our wives and our little ones will be carried off as plunder! Wouldn’t it be better for us to return to Egypt?’” Numbers 14:3 (NLT)
MESSAGE:
It appears that it was easier for God to get his people out of Egypt than it was for Him to get Egypt out of the people. In today’s blog, we see that the people were ready to turn away from God’s promise and return to the land from which He delivered them. They were ready to return to slavery, and to the worship of the very gods who failed to save their masters. Continue reading “Debilitating Demons that Detour Your Destiny – Part 7”
Debilitating Demons that Detour Your Destiny – Part 6
“But the whole community began to talk about stoning Joshua and Caleb…” Numbers 14:10 (NLT)
MESSAGE:
How quickly things can change. After two years in the wilderness enjoying the miraculous provision of God, God’s people began to talk about murdering their leaders on the very eve of receiving their promise. The spirit of murder does not magically appear in our life. It’s not something that should ever catch us by surprise. The Apostle James instructs us that temptation grows out of our desires which entice us and drag us away from what is right. When we nurture those desires, instead of giving them to Jesus to be crucified on the cross, they give birth to sinful actions. Then, when sin is allowed to run unchecked, it gives birth to death. (James 1:14-15) Another way of looking at it, is that when we allow our emotions to lead us instead of God’s Word, we will eventually give in to temptation – in other words, we will sin. If we still fail to turn it over to God it will bring the spirit of murder. That spirit may position itself against others, or it may put us in a mindset of self-destruction.
