Say it with me, “I’m God’s gift to the world.” One more time, “I’m God’s gift to the world.” Does it feel a little prideful? Probably so – it does to me – but it is still true. Let’s break it down.
If you believe the Bible, I’m sure you agree with me that Jesus is God’s gift to the world. One of the most memorable scriptures is John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
That same passage of scripture goes on to say, “For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” (v 17)
What a wonderful and precious gift God has given to us ordinary humans! “But wait,” you say, “what does that have to do with me being God’s gift to the world?” I’m so glad you asked.
In what is often called Jesus’ High Priestly Prayer, Jesus said to Father God, “Just as you sent me into the world, I am sending them into the world.” (John 17:18 NLT). And no, this wasn’t just for the Apostles. How do I know? Because Jesus went on to pray, “I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message.” (v 20).
So just think, you really are God’s gift to the world. Now make sure you go out and share yourself with the people you were made for.
Father help us be what You created us for. May no one in our life miss out on the blessing You made us to be. Bless the readers today with the revelation that they were created for this time and this place to be a gift to others. Amen.
